th IMG 5860“I have spent the majority of my life fighting for what I want. Violence and robbing being constants, so I really don’t know how to live within the law, within normal community constraints, how to make a legal living. But I realized this time that I was going to die unless I changed and I decided i want to live. But I aint got a clue how. My best mode of survival was to only trust myself and assume everybody was out to get someting out of me, so strike first and bugger the consequences, it had to be better than letting anybody get close to me. I elected to Drug, Alcohol, and Substance abuse treatment.

I found it hard on the boat being confined to such a small area and I’m a big guy but the others were good for a laugh and there was plenty to do during the day. But what happened was I began to share a bit more about how I felt at the group times and felt better about myself and the others felt OK.  The most remarkable experience was sitting here in the cockpit which was cool, looking out on that that beautiful scene and realized I felt content, first time I’ve ever felt content and the great insight was that I don’t have to do anything to feel so good, just be here, I can stop fighting and be OK”
